Where do you find this adjustment? I can’t find it.

    Jerry,
How do you ‘force’ assign RAM to FCP?

    Charles,
Thanks, I figured out what how to do it. This is my first attempt at using camera moves. Keyframing is completely different than normal motion in AE.

How about using a 2nd smaller camera and lock it down on a shot of the GPS unit. With matching TC you would know where you are all times. Not the easiest to do in a chopper, but possible if it’s a big one like a Bell Long Ranger.

Great idea, but what we really need is P2 unit that can record all formats, HD-SDI and Firewire in/out. Small and easy to mount on the back or hotshoe of Varicam or HDX900. I tried the FS100 and didn’t like it. Too big and the cable input was flimsy and undependable.

I see more and more HD clips posted on websites. So, HD is here right now. With H.264 codecs, you can get some really nice looking clips posted on the web.

I was an early user of M100 and switched to FCP about 3 years ago. I don’t miss it at all. Sure, there’s always going to be a few user things that are different, but speed-wise, I’m rockin’ with FCP everyday.

Take note on the things that might have made a difference in your FCP test. Graphic cards, RAID speed, RAM, Codecs used etc. All effects speed.

    Mark,
    Thanks for following up.

Can I ask what that your ‘Caption Inserter Box’ is? I’m using a Kona3 card, I would think that since it’s the best, it should pass the CC code.

I guess I was hoping it the workflow would be as easy as just sending them an Uncompressed SD file, have them encode the CC and send it back to me as a file.

I will call the couple of companies referenced in the thread and see what their workflow is.

    Thanks guys!

    Thanks for the links!!!

Question… do you send off a script and video file on portable HD, have them encode it and put it back on your Drive? Or do you send them a tape?

This project is only SD. I would like to send them a file as that would be easier to import back into FCP and export to BetacamSP tape. What’s you guys’ workflow?

  • I’ve had both the above units and they are excellent. The Fusion 500’s are great. Been using them for 2 years with no issues.
