You don’t need any special ‘Green Screen’ capabilities. Just a green-screen cloth background, seamless paper or even paint. You can do the compositing in FCP. The standard keying is good, but you can buy some excellent specialty green-screen Plug-ins. Once you learn what you can do with keying, you’ll be hooked!
Now, that’s not to say, you need to do some research on lighting and practice before you shoot a real project. Most gaffers know how to light for green-screen.

I would consider taking all your pics into After-Effects. Move them, resize them, etc and then output that to one movie in the codec of your FCP timeline. This way you can work with them in FCP without rendering every time you add each pic.

“Not as crisp as 60i of course since it was progressive.” Huh? 60p progressive is better than interlaced as there is no moire. What do you mean by this? Plus, it has no relationship to ‘crispness’, especially on a static talking head.
Prompter glass will always effect image quality as does shooting through filters. But, not that much. Maybe the person moved slightly. HD focus is utterly critical and the person shifting his position 1-2″ can make a huge difference as you state you were shooting fairly wide open at f4. I check and double check focus all the time. Nothing I hate more than a soft focus shot, especially when projected on big screen. Your 7″ hides a lot of that. (I have one too).

Did you try the Black Balance reset first? Press and hold down the Black balance switch until it finishes it’s cycle. That might fix your issue. Try that first.

1st, let the person know who’s authoring the PP that they need to think TV instead of computer/projection. Here’s some guidelines:
– Larger fonts and less on each page.
– Keep everything inside a safe title area (Not too close to the edges of the frame)
– Build all slides in a 4:3 or 16:9 size.
– Use contrasting colors for type and background (No Red on a Green Background)That’s a start. You can always take the movie you export and mortise it back a bit in FCP to be in safe Title area. That works if the fonts aren’t too small.
I agree with David. You may have to rebuild some slides if they are unreadable. Just instruct the authors to think TV frame.

You’re welcome. Keynote is awesome, because it will also allow you to import a Power-point file and export it as a QT WITH the transitions intact! That’s what sold me on Keynote.

You can export a Quicktime movie out of Keynote. Just import that into FCP and add sound.

Thanks guys. David, I agree, that’s why I would like mine to be accurate. I do a lot of WMV compression and I want to know they will look good. I don’t know why the Dells don’t look as close as my previous Apple 30″. I traded that for the two Dells. I had a hard time with all everything on one big monitor. Especially when set to the max resolution.
