Your mixer has what’s called “global phantom power” meaning one switch for all phantom. You shouldn’t have any issues with feeding a wireless into a mic input with phantom power on. It’s not reccomended but it won’t hurt anything. If you have a non powered line input module on your mixer you could try turning up the wireless receiver output to the max and plugging it in there and see if that works for you. You’ll need a different output cable, most likely 3.5mm trs to 1/4″ trs.

Meters to measure level in the digital world usually show a range from -40dbfs to +20dbfs.
Digital recorders are calibrated to show a maximum input level of “0” with a standard reference level of -12dbfs or -20dbfs. What you’re calling “0” level should correctly be termed -40dbfs and lower.Eric

Be thankful you can monitor anything. Today it’s almost all wireless hops to the camera where you have no monitor return.

Try a different cable. If the problem is still there then it’s not the cable. Then you have to check the input connection in your recorder. A process of elimination will pin point the problem area.

If you were sending one mic to both channels it doesn’t matter. OTOH if you were sending a boom & a lav to seperate tracks and want hear them individually then you have a monitoring problem. I’m not sure but there might be a 5 pin audio out XLR-M connection on the camera that you could wire up an adapter box to select what you want to hear. Other than that WYSISWYG.

The B3 has a similar sound with the added advantage of frequency changing protective caps, more rugged, waterproof & less expensive than a a COS 11. A very good bang for the buck. You can read all about the Countryman line at https://www.countryman.com.

Sounds like the gain was increased somewhere in the chain on sample #2. In any event there isn’t enough self noise to worry about. OTOH the ME 2 that comes with the EW series are basically give away mics. Get yourself a Countryman B3 or EMW for better sound quality.

Where are you setting the recorder levels? -12dbfs is best for these small recorders.

They use the Audio Technica ATR 3350 or the Radio Shack equivelent. About $20 or so anywhere on the web.
