January 19, 2011 at 11:46 pmYou can turn the volume all the way down, but it will not prevent the Zoom from using the data space for (recording nothing to) the “empty” track. The track can’t be entirely disengaged, only muted.
The feature that I would really like on the Zoom is to record from one input to two channels at different volumes.

January 19, 2011 at 11:48 pmThat is true, Bob. A simple XLR wye cable would suffice for splitting the signal to both tracks. I understand your point though…it is yet another link in the signal chain that can fail.
