If you solve the problem and there’s no picture involved re-record the audio track. You should be able to duplicate the set up to find out where in the recording chain the problem lives. As a last resort perhaps you can rent another recorder.

Try taking a feed from the recorder from the HP output. Seems you are not getting full level from the line out connection if there is one on the recorder, might also be a connecting issue on the cable from the recorder to the editing gear. Try another cable just to be sure.

The COS 11D has a very hot out put. Try adjusting the TX gain to about -18. That could help a lot. and adjust the RX output to about the same. All connected to a mic level input not LINE.

It’s entirely possible that the NTG 3 has a hotter output than the 4053. That has nothing to do with phantom voltage. Compare the specs of both mics and you’ll see the output level differences. If a mic is designed to only run on 48vp then it will be +/= 4 volts or 44-52vp.

Most likely it’s your gain setting or speaker placement. Make sure the speakers are in front of the lectern and not behind them. A good graphic EQ unit or feedback eliminator will help you notch out the offending frequencys.

Yes that’s the reason. While the HP output will work for a line output you have to be careful of accidently changing it’s output level with the HP volume control. I would adjust (gain stage) the line out to the next input by adjusting it’s input level.

The HP output has a HP amplifier with a variable gain control in the circuit to drive the HP’s to full level, the output jack does not as it’s most likely going into another stage of line amplification.

If by pop filter you mean the foam sleeve that slides down over the mic grill then yes they’re all pretty much the same in results. There are also fur covered wind filters that are made for specific mics that do the best of eliminating wind noise. Look up https://www.rycote.com.

While my reply has nothing to do with isolation it does address the “neutrality” of the 7506. The Sony 7506 while very popular are about as far from neutral as you can get. They have a boosted low end and a very peaked top end. I gave up Sony 7506 HP’s about 15 years ago when I discovered the Ultrasone HFI-580 or 680 and so has everyone else I have recommended them to.
