    No. A DI box changes high impedence to low impedence. Has nothing to do with what you want to do. First rule of good audio: Get the right tool for the job. For IEM look for a used set of Comteks on ebay.

    Look at the specs for the system. If they say line in is available and it uses a 3.5mm TRS connector then the line in would be on the ring. The tip is for mic level. Then you’d need a special cable for that.

    OTOH you could buy a 40-50db plug in pad/attenuator that would drop the line level feed to mic level but the pad is XLR in & out.

    You would need a cable to feed your tx that has an xlr on the input side wired unbalanced. It gets a bit more complicated if the console line out is 1/4″ then you need 1/4″ to xlr-m to pad to xlr-f to 3.5mm. BTW you should be monitoring at the recording device not at the receiver.

    I have the 81i and love it. However it would not be my first choice for ENG where you have to deal with a lot of crowd/street noise. Then I would prefer the Sanken CS3e or a 416. Your choice depends on the primary type of work you’re going to be doing.

    Any particular reason to go with the DPA? It’s a very good mic and a good price for the package but have you tried it or any others like the Sanken CS3e or Sennheiser MKH 416 or the Rode NTG3? Just wondering.

    Sorry but there is no recorder small enough to fit in your pocket that has TC. Unless you increase your budget significantly you’re SOL.

    No you’re not missing anything. The EMW is a 3 wire mic. I’ve wired Sony lavs for Sennheiser G2/3 wireless the same way I’ve wired EMW’s for Sennheiser G2/3 and they work fine. They should work in either system. Try it and see.

    You don’t need all that extra stuff & expense. The receiver output is unbalanced and the camera input is balanced. All you need is a cable wired for an unbalanced XLR. If your handy with a soldering iron it’s easy. The positive/audio signal from the receiver go’s to pin 2 in the xlr, the ground/shield gets connected to pin 1 & 3 in the xlr. For $20 each I’ll make you all you want.

    The connections inside the 3.5 mm TRS are the same for the Sony or Sennheiser mics. Positive to the tip, Shield/ground to the sleeve. What changes is if the mic is a 2 wire or three wire.

    For a 3 wire lav the negative gets grounded to the sleeve. The trick is figuring out which wire is what on a 3 wire. Been there, done that with more different lavs than I can remember.
