Personally I think you’re being a bit too picky and creating a problem where none exsists. I recently finished a show with 15 actors on stage all wearing the E6 in various skin tones and no one ever noticed or cared.

Why would you want to make them standout against a face? The reason for skin tones is so they look almost invisible on camera. A broad tip Sharpie would do the job but remember that there’s a chance that the color will rub off onto the wearers face and once you’ve changed the color you can’t remove it.

OTOH you could get a length of 1/8″ or 3/16″ diameter black shrink tubing and shrink it over the stalk with a heat gun being careful not to over heat the capsule. I have a feeling that the stalk flexibility will be impaired with the shrink tubing on it.

If the connectors match and are wired the same they should work. Try it and see, you may have to adjust the input sensitivity.

Do you have the DR 60 inputs set for microphone level and are they providing the appropriate DC voltage for the microphones you’re using?

No not really. You have a location problem. If you were using a wireless system you could scan for a clear frequency but you don’t have that choice with a hard wired lav into the camera.

The Boostaroo is not made to accept a mic level signal only a
pro-sumer headphone level signal. Get the one from Radio Shack, it will do exactly what you need. Form be dammed.

When you connect up to the output the speaker turns off.

I don’t know if they’re available any more but I’ve used the mini amplifier speaker from radio shack, # 277-1008c, takes a mono 3.5 mm in and 3.5 mm out. Runs on a 9v or wall wart. Mic level in and variable line level out. Should do exactly what you want. I’ve got few new ones that I’m not using. Contact me: audioetc@bellsouth.net

One of the remaining two wires should connect to the tip for bias current. Start with Red to tip & sleeve to ground and keep trying the other two until you get a clean signal feed, then solder in place.

From time to time there are used Comtek systems that appear on ebay and the consignment listings on https://www.trewaudio.com. I would look there to save money. In fact there are used Comtek systems on both those sites right now.
