I have it running on 10.7.3 at the moment.
The issues Im having are not ticky tacky and could be the Smart Tools.
Basically having to click numerous times on a edit point during Trim takes a bit too much patience. After the battle with finally selecting and moving, it takes a few tries before you can actually Roll an edit.

The Waveform on Audio tracks only appear when I have an IN/OUT placed.
So this is a bit of work around.

The Key-frame problem is probably me since they implemented new tools.

I didnt have these issues with 5 and 5.5.x.

At least (knock on wood) AMA is acting right this time around 🙂

Both worlds have their own quirks and positives.
I for one get confused going back to MC from FCPX.
Why do I have to keep toggling that damn Smart Tool on and off?
I find editing, yes just editing and nothing else in FCPX is a breeze and lets me move naked thru the park without having to shut off a track and figure out why I cant do precision trimming.
dont get me wrong, I love Avid MC and I can fly in it too.
But when you work in FCPX for a few days then back, its a bit of a mind f*** 🙂 In a good way of course ;
For the subject, sure learn it if you have time.
Trust me it wont take long to get it.
Ive been teaching it to brand new computer users for the last year.
It amazes me how fast learning FCPX is compared to legacy for my students.
Ive been doing that for almost 10 years with FCP.

I am long time DVDSP user and have converted to Encore.
It was all thanks to BD and nothing else.
I use FCPX and Avid mostly with PPro time to time.
If you are ready to move to PPro, you at least have Encore to try and use as possible replacement for DVDSP.

Scouring the Cow for same answers but using FCPX.
Weird thing is that FCPX will show it in the Import window but will not let it ingest.
I had to run MPEG Streamclip and convert to QT h.264.
Files are huge but as soon as I get an optimized version in FCPX, Im toasting the originals.

I had one issue with round-tripping clips back and forth from FCPX to AE but that was before 10.0.3.
Did not like other apps using an FCPX blessed file in the Event folder.
Now its all good with round-tripping across all apps 🙂

I know this sounds a bit much but I always render to QT None from AE when I deal with Alpha Titling and Motion Graphics.
For sfx compositions then whatever target I was using e,g DNxHD, ProRes, TIFF sequence, etc…

From the very beginning with Motion Design (for me), Ive always treated AE as the app that doesnt get client review. My understanding is that its for post-work or special effects.
I have never sat with a client to see what they think in AE.
Its 99% in NLE or media player.
I can bring down the fastest PC/Mac at my disposal with AE when delving into multiple layers that are far to large to deal with.
Most of the time its Vector from Illustrator/Freehand.
Check your PSD layers. What res are they at and ask yourself what res they should be.
Its hard to help when Im not actually in front of your system.
