i must be doing something wrong then because (ive just rebuilt my own simplified scenario to grasp the fundamentals) my precomp is a circle scaling big to small, as well as a couple position moves…but i can only recall them once. I add my scale marker to my main comp and it works perfectly, but if i add another scale marker down the timeline i get no response, even if i bring that second scale marker before the first one in time, the original will be the only one to trigger the animation.

thanks thats some useful info there, that explains the inconsistency of the problem, never really think about what order i select things in.

  • thats a new feature introduced in 11.5, if your working with an earlier version than that then you cant. otherwise yes.

that was one of the first things i tried and didnt work, but i didnt know cubic was projected, good to know. I just solved the problem by adding the animation to the extrusion instead of the splines.

So i worked myself into a hole lol…i thought that might be the case but hoping it was a last resort solution, thank god most of it was done with expresso and just have the one letter to re animate and just reference the extrudes instead of splines. Thanks so much for the info.

Dont know of a way to auto update it but the is a “copy expression only” option in edit that should make what your trying to do pretty painless.

  • A track matte does only work on the one layer underneath but a stencil alpha or luma blending mode will use that layer as a matte for every layer in your comp underneath it.
