Does nobody else run into this problem or does nobody know a solution?

I actually am using linear (setting gamma to 2.2 right?). For my future scenes ill keep into consideration using inverse square, just for the moment though im following a tutorial trying to improve my lighting and rendering skills and reached a step that they used just inverse, which in his scene improved it a lot so for now was just trying to do that for the sake of following along.

Ya i have inverse square, and inverse square clamped, but what i want is simply “inversed” like previous versions have. inverse squared tends to blow lights out at the source.

i actually found that answer in my research before my post and i just get an “Expected” error. im supposed to replace “your layer” with the layer im trying to follow right? Even though that layer is also parented to another layer? Either way i tried i just get the Expected error.

i know that line of light is supposed to change upon angle, but im using “Radial Pattern Auto Planar” to get those overlapped circles look, and i thought those shapes are supposed to stay in place, and just the light on them changes.

you know what thanks, you pointed it something i shouldve already known. Its a particular thing not on expression thing, its doesnt work even when i disable the expression and keyframe the value because its an emitter shooting one burst of particles and staying (so technically it does work but i dont have particles emitting over a period of time to show the new emitter size), should be able to plug into a world transform thanks!

oh and while im at it i was also wondering if i could get any tips and smoothing out the creases, if you fold the box like 50% theres some phong weirdness going on and it kinda snaps at 100% folded, btw before you turn cloth nurbs on take the subdivision down, i had it up before i subdivided the actual polygons for weight painting, thanks again 🙂
