Matrox (Axio) records WAV files in addition to the embedded audio when capturing in Premiere. I think you’re doing the best you can. I have lashed my sound card into my audio chain to record with Audition.

My guess is that your whole movie is there and the rendered frames indicator stops early. By the way, even though FLV files won’t play directly with the browser-based Flash player plug-in, they will be accepted by web site creation software packages like Dreamweaver. Once integrated into the web site, they will play back normally in a browser.

You aren’t doing anything wrong. FLV files won’t play back without an FLV player, even with the Flash player installed. Download the free Wimpy FLV player:
https://www.wimpyplayer.com/products/wimpy_standalone_flv_player.html
and your Flash movies will magically appear!
And I totally disagree with Steve re: Matrox. It’s a great system (when configured and installed correctly). -
1) Uninstall X.tools by choosing Start > Programs > Matrox X.tools > Uninstall.
2) If you have a Matrox display card (G400, G450, G550, Parhelia, P650, or P750), uninstall Matrox Graphics Software using Add or Remove Programs in Windows Control Panel. If you do not have a Matrox display card, skip to Step 4.
3) If you performed Step 2, download and install the latest drivers for your Matrox display card.
4) In Windows Explorer, select the folder C:\Windows\INF (where C: is your system drive). If you do not see this folder, you must enable Show Hidden Files and Folders by choosing Tools > Folder Options > View. Once you are in the INF folder, delete all of the OEM*.inf and OEM*.pnf files (the asterisks refer to the numbers that will appear next to them).
5) Open the Device Manager by right-clicking My Computer, then choosing Properties > Hardware > Device Manager, and delete all of the Matrox entries (there should be 5 of them).
6) Click Action > Scan for Hardware Changes to re-detect the Matrox devices, click No or Cancel, for each Matrox item detected.
7) Re-install Matrox X.tools

Cool. I hope it ripples the track. This is a little unclear from the demo.

More picon size options. The trend is to higher resolution monitors. Currently I am using 24″ 1920×1200 16×9 LCD panels. The picons get pretty small at this resolution, and are useless for discerning any detail, especially with HD. I’d like to be able to set up my bin with a single column of extra large picons that I could scroll with my mouse wheel (using shift key for a speed boost).

After Effects. Set up a 24P composition. In the interpret footage menu for the 29.97 clips, experiment with the fields and pulldown settings. Be sure to select Preserve Edges for smart deinterlacing. The footage is going to look jumpy because there isn’t enough motion blur on scenes shot at 29.97 to look good played back at 24 fps.

AE doesn’t like HDV. Export from Premiere as an uncompressed AVI or as a Targa or TIFF sequence; 1440×1080, square pixels. These settings are in the export movie menu. AE comp settings should match.

Thanks, Aanarav. Very helpful. Gotta love the cow.

Make sure you have a device control device selected. If “none” is selected, the export to tape will be greyed out.
