I’ve had R3D’s import into resolve w/o reel info…. So even if the Reels are right in FCP, that won’t necessarily matter.

Did you get a kernel panic when you were installing? I would bet that the software installed but the PostRes database situation didn’t get installed. Reinstall and as long as the system requirements are met it should work out.

I recently tried the Alexa transform on a RED shot, the highlights are still gone but the color results were very interesting. Definitely better than the Red transform.

I was answering the question, not judging how it would be used…. He did mention a separate Panasonic… So I was assuming it wasn’t for critical evaluation.

And as far as filling the 27″ monitor… use the scopes. Way more useful than a full screen monitor, especially if you have the additional video monitor.

    The Viewer

  • The only thing that really devalues the brand is if the intended audience thinks they are entitled to use it for free, instead of paying for it.

Glad that I’m not the only one seeing this…

    November 14, 2011 at 7:15 pm in reply to: RED R3d Question…..

Is that the fix? Do you not get access to the RED metadata in ACES? And do you know why the input transform for the RED treats it so crazy?

Also, maybe I’m missing something because the ACES color science seems to work better on the preconforms I’ve been doing, but in the RED stuff I seems to have more to work with in the YRGB…. So like I said, maybe I’m missing something that I would rather not be missing….

    Further enlightenment would be awesome.

I was using ACES… But I just switched to YRGB and it seems to have “fixed” it….

The best way to deal with deleting Render Files in my experience is to use the eRender Manager in FCP.

It will be especially usefull in this instance so you don’t erase anything of value.

It is under Tools. It will give you a list of projects and tell you how much space is being used by render files. Very handy.
