November 16, 2011 at 12:28 pmThe full version of DaVinci Resolve supports greater than one GPU, greater than HD in the timeline, Stereoscopic grading, real time noise reduction, share database and remote grading. We continue to develop advanced features that will be available in the full version so this list will grow.
With the Windows version coming soon and the same Mac dongle for the full version working on windows we also feel the expanded GPU count for the full version will become more commonly used.

November 16, 2011 at 3:00 pmHi Peter,
I’m just about to start a feature, mostly RED MX. I’ll be using a MacPro and Cubix 4 (Rocket, Decklink, 2x GTX 480s). I won’t need Avid codec support but in your opinion is it worth upgrading from 8.1 to 8.1.1 for the ‘performance and stability improvements’?
I’m on Lion 10.7.2 with the latest CUDA/Decklink/RedRocket drivers.
Great job by the way, thank you very much!
Also as a side note, with all these updates do you still suggest splitting a feature into 15 min reels?
thanks again!

November 16, 2011 at 3:17 pmA naive question, but please bear…
Will an upgrade from Resolve Lite 8.x to 8.1.1 retain existing projects and CC nodes? Or are projects not backwards compatible.
Also, if for some reason, one needs to go from Lite 8.1.1 to full (paid) 8.1.1, will existing projects be unaffected? And, the other way around?
Also, what’s the peace of mind method to backup existing projects? Where and what does one back up. And then how does one restore it. This is just in case one uninstalls and reinstalls for any reason.

November 16, 2011 at 4:56 pmI’m sure glad that I recently spent $500 on the Avid DNXHD plugin!
More features are great… but seriously. Almost everyone can do all the grading on the free version. Hardly any reason to pay for DaVinci now. I don’t get how it make sense business wise… but I’m not a business major.
Does this not, even somewhat devalue the perceived value of the DaVinci brand? Well people do love Free!

Doesn’t make any sense for the long run to offer more and more free products.
