The main limitation on the Lite version is that you only can apply two nodes. Doesn’t get you very far in a client session. I recently had a session where we applied 13 nodes in some shots. In this way Resolve Lite is a “gateway drug” that hits its limitations fast, encouraging you to upgrade.

November 20, 2011 at 1:13 amHi Tristan,
Well that actually was my point. The new free version has unlimited notes. Which basically makes the free version as powerful as the full version (except for a few small things, 3D, 4K, remote grading system).
That was why I was confused about the free vs paid version. At this point since Blackmagic has made the free version so powerful, they might as well get rid of the paid version and just put all the features into the free one. Not much of a difference now.

November 23, 2011 at 11:20 amyou are really making it harder and harder for me to stick with color aren’t you. hahaha
if only i could deal with the confusion of the legalizer and the gamut errors that slip by on output. and that curves window is fantastic, it would be really useful if it was twice as large for us mouse users. its good to see you incorporating so many of colors ease of use features. and now all the nodes….sheesh next thing you know all the sapphire plug ins are gonna be integrated and then i’ll really have to make the switch! -
