I’m cleaning up an ANCIENT video, and want to tighten it up (styles have changed in 20 years).

I’d like to cut thru multiple layers , delete that chunk of time, and have the deletion ripple close.

EG: there’s a text layer, a matte color layer, and the video. I’d like to slice all 3, and delete them ‘shut’, in the most efficient manner possible. TNX!

Is there a setting to prevent imported clips from automatically generating a new Sequence?

I was resurrecting an ancient AEP and copied a bunch of fonts to my newer machine. This went well for the most part. However, AE is refusing to find one font, although PS finds it fine.

AE will load the font on a new text layer, but this is a typographic animation, and I have no idea of where the original is. How can I locate it?

What’s the current practices for PPro editors for reviewing source/raw footage, maybe adding some notes, and even doing a very very rough cut?

While I’m not looking exactly for ‘sticky notes’, I’d be happy to hear about them too.

I believe “Shutter Encoder” will do the job: I tried to save from VLC, but the resulting file did not have the audio (which VLC will play from the original) attached. >:^(

I have a number of *.MOV files that will play in VLC, both audio and video, but not in PPro. So the audio is there, and the freeware can play it, but the commercial s/w does not.

I think they were just regular markers (which can be colored) — this was a tutorial file.

Been a long time: in the PP timeline there are Red & Blue tag/markers above the timeline that can be moved around. What are their function?

I’m MUCH more familiar with AE than PP.

One way is to map a steam texture on a HOOP, and rotate it past the camera. Map the resulting render on a poly.

Why not just animate the layer?

SOLVED: turning on CONTINUOUSLY RASTERS/COLLAPSE TRANSFORMATION solved the issue, although I don’t know why the effect was limited to 2 specific frames.

…wtheck…. I’m zooming in a pre-comp, and in the middle of the zoom, where there are NO keyframes, the layer is displaced spatially for 2 frames. No keyframes in this range, either in the final nor the pre-comp. After 2 frames it works correctly.

Making a standard set of rulers?

I’d like the capability to create with one keystroke (launch a script) my own custom set of rulers created. Like, “Borders 10 pixels inside the comp, plus center X and Y rulers”.

If I do so, my laptop screen UI elements become miniscule (including OS stuff).

It’s like the OS Display considers the low-resolution but physically larger screen to be the metric, and the laptop’s hirez but smallish to be dependent. The problem is that the cursors are ENORMOUS on the low-rez screen, which is where I’d prefer to work.

Every ‘click’ of my mouse wheel jumps the comp window zoom. Pour MOI, this is too fast.

Is this adjustable anywhere? (W10)

Cursor size issue:

In AE my tool icons are GIANT. I can’t take a screen grab of them because they are cursors and Screen Print doesn’t grab cursors, but to give you an idea, the Text Cursor is ~4x the height of the Comp window option line, or ~4X the height of a layer line in the Timeline. Other cursors are similarly en-gianted.

I wound up parenting layers with empty fills because me no mograph so gud. If I were to redo this I’d just use ADD for the white strokes.
