    Ok so that solution works.

New issue (again the program seems to be fighting me the whole way through)

I encoded the video at my typical bitrate of 2k for 640×480, results were terrible, lots of artifacts, pixelation, etc.. Do I need to boost the bitrate? I notice color pixelation when I just play the timeline even before encoding.

Do I need to encode on my more powerful PC with a better gpu?

I was hoping to not have to set all the track motion data again, but it seems to work now, i carefully moved the section backwards a little , then brought the section after the cut to the left slowly and now it works. It’s basically fighting me the whole time as if it’s doing something it rather not do.

New issue (of course) I now have 4 videos in the respective corners and wish to label each one with a little text. When I go to the track to add text there is no option to Add Generated Media. why not?

So for my project I am also creating a split screen of 4 different sd videos, thanks to the info I received here I successfully used TRACK MOTION to orient the 4 videos into 4 corners of the screen. They all fit nicely into one 640×480 video.

Now the issue is if I don’t want to use the beginning of the track and want to use footage further down the track on one of the videos I make a cut, delete the unwanted part, and then drag the part I use forward in the timeline so it lines up with the other 3 videos, this causes the track motion data to reset leaving this track in full screen mode. any suggestions?

Thanks so much for all the replies! A lot to unpack and from what I get out of this it’s just as important as to when you select the cut for the transition (or hard cut) then the transition itself! I will have my work cut out for me!

    Cheers

So yes I was I guess referring to hard cuts, which according to you guys is not a transition. Just when I see it done in the trailer and on other shows it looks very smooth as oppose to when I try it it comes out amateurish and jerky.

Yes I can give you guys an example, sorry for not making this more clear.

And I’m talking about how it appears post render, I just have dissolve as my default transition and have plenty of gpu power. Playback is smooth it’s just that the transition is noticeable.

Here is an example of what I see to be seamless transitions, it’s in the first part of this trailer so you don’t have to watch too long.

would you consider those jump cuts? I have tried rendering without transitions and it’s too jerky. I shoot simply talking videos with a single camera so for me the jump cut is very apparent and jerky.

So I seem to have this issue with more than one video but not the majority of them, since the raw files appear to be ok when viewed it doesn’t appear to be a cabling issue

no difference, also file 0067 is 1 min 30 sec long yet only shows as 50 seconds on the timeline when I drop it in, however I am able to stretch it to 1:30 at it plays the rest. just don’t understand why media player is able to play the files perfectly and not vegas
