video not showing up properly in vegas
So I accidently deleted 5 video files from my sd card inside my vixia camcorder, I subsequently used Recuva to successfully recover the files that were deleted.
I dropped one of the fixed files (0066.mts) into vegas but the video that vegas displays is file 0067.mtsplaying back of 0066 in windows media player is fine, it shows what should be there, it’s only in vegas where it shows 0067
I tried dragging 0066.mts into avidemux and saved it as 0066.ts I then dragged that file into vegas which displays it correctly but then crashes if i try and play it in the timeline. I even tried rendering it as mpeg2 without playing it back but the rendering doesn’t get past 0%

What happens if you just change/rename from 0066.mts to 0066.mpg ?

no difference, also file 0067 is 1 min 30 sec long yet only shows as 50 seconds on the timeline when I drop it in, however I am able to stretch it to 1:30 at it plays the rest. just don’t understand why media player is able to play the files perfectly and not vegas

A media player just playing a file and a video editor digging into a file to play in preview fulfilling editing instructions are two different things.
Possibly your file recovery has resulted in a file that isn’t completely clean and the corruption is causing Vegas problems. Try converting the file, outside of Vegas, to see if it can be repaired. I’d start with Handbrake but others may have additional and better suggestions.
