… you probably need something like VideoRedo (not free) to “quickstream fix” your clip… works for me with some weird VOBs …
another solution is to capture the DVD as DV-AVI (played on some DVD player …)

…Vegas 9pro reads almost any VOB content today… if you have the whole DVD try File – Import option… or drop the VOB into Vegas timeline… try even changing the VOB file extension to mpg and see if it works… no need for transcoding….

I installed both Vegas 9pro 32 and 64 bits on my Win 7 system and only the 64 bit version give me the dolby AC3 Pro option …. don´t know why but it’s the one I use when render to DVD….

..I use 720 60p in my EX3 when shooting sports or some action clips….to me is an option to overcrank … “slowing” the frame rate of the 60p clips in Vegas gives me nice “slo-mo” results….

…again…. I’ve made many DVDs encoding my progressive HD source files as progressive mpeg2 and DVDarchitect doesn’t reencode the files…. the DVDs are 100% fully compatible with any player, looks great and if you “check” the VOB file-properties appears as 720 x 480 29.97 progressive files !!!!

…well, I´ve made hundreds of DVDs with all my settings in progressive (shoot 30p with an EX3, which I prefer over 24p) in Sony Vegas 9pro without any problems or any complaints of any customer (played on many DVD players out there)… I also know and read about 30p being “non-standard” for DVD but when I make my final render to NTSC-mpeg2 with progressive settings, DVD architect just accept the files well without any reencoding…. in fact, the other day I have to “mix” HD-30p material with some std-VOB-DVD footage from older projects and the best results for my final NTSC-SD-DVD were with progressive settings…

…I have also a custom PC workstation running Win 64bits with Vegas 9pro (32 and 64 bits) and I’m very happy with this machine… the problem with most commercial PC brands at least for intensive video or 3D applications is the lack of power and stability that you only get with a really professional workstation (custom made as John said or certified like some HPs, Boxx machines, etc.)… I once try FCP (on a Mac)…. and I stay with Vegas…. sorry for your Win experience…
