I’m thinking that a re-install will be the best option, I’ve just found and read your thread on FCP 6 cautions, it’s made my mind up really, to save any headaches I’ll be going back to 5.

    Thanks CharlieX

    Hi fellas,
    in answer to the above

    1) It’s not the cables, I can swap SDI cables and still get signals direct to the deck, so not the cable run.

    2) Haven’t tried that yet

    3) I had the control panel open before I posted this morning everything seemed to be fine that is SDI 1 In had 625/50i going in, the frame buffer was set to the same and SDI out 1 had 625/50i coming out as did SDI out 2 (primary & secondary) still nothing came out of SDI out2 though.

I’ll give option 2 a go when back in tomorrow…

    thanks again fellas…

Hi David, I tried a restart of the G5, same thing, I thought it couldn’t be the array as a lot of the clips were online. I have had this once before and was wondering if it’s something that Apple have introduced by way of a bug?

  • Hi,
if you have a clip that’s two seconds long, and you apply a 200% speed event that clip will change in length by half, this is a real problem if it’s in the middle of an hour long programme and you’ve got various tracks unlocked, it starts to get messy.
Two things you can do, take out the clip you want to affect, move it to the end, the very end of your timeline, and apply the speed event, then edit it back into your sequence and pull everything else up.
Secondly, mark an in and out on your sequence, and then an in and out on your clip and perform a ‘fit to fill’ edit, this will, like it says, fit your source clip into the hole in your sequence.

    hope that helps…

[Russell Lasson] “It will take longer for some clips because it will analyze the entire original footage, not just the in and out points.”

Ahhh, I thought that’s what was happening, sorry I should have said, I was trying to use the re-timing behaviour in Motion, I added the behaviour then timing was set to opitcal flow, it took an age, only then did I realise it was analyzing the whole clip, so a round trip via quickitme export should cure it?

AVCHD is not, as you’ve said supported by ANY NLE software at the moment. Plans by Sony are to have it working in their Vegas software soon, there are however ways to transcode your AVCHD media to QuickTime if you’ve got the coding skills, the time and the patience of a saint…

    To do what?

I’ve just been playing around with this and the only keyframe control I can find is the basic motion ones, none of them seem to contol the roller, he’s a weird one too, I got to the end of my roller, with the text centre-screen, tried a freeze frame, it just gave me a frame of black.
