    Hello,
I walked into my on-line session this morning to be greeted with a conformed sequence which had been done overnight. All the clips had been captured and were on the relevant drives, but FCP6 indicated that some of the timeline was offline(white timeline). O.K, so I’ll reconnect these clips to the ones that are on the drives.

Select clip, right click, reconnect media. Up pops the search window, I hit locate, it locates the clip, I say connect…nuthin’. It wouldn’t let me connect back to the clips which were so obviously right, I know this as I’ve just wasted three hours eye-matching…

Anyone else had this, and if so, how do I fix it?

    Many thanks as always,

    Enge

Are you sure it didn’t connect? Sometimes the thumbnail says it’s offline, but the media is really connected. You can trash the thumbnail cache to update the thumbnails.

[Enge] “All the clips had been captured and were on the relevant drives, but FCP6 indicated that some of the timeline was offline(white timeline). O.K, so I’ll reconnect these clips to the ones that are on the drives.”

Why did FCP and your media array suffer a disconnect? Clearly that indicates a hardware problem. Your first job in a case like this should never be to fix the symptoms, i.e reconnecting the media, but rather to troubleshoot the source of the problem. Maybe just a reboot of the computer or the raid, maybe more going on than that, but a system working properly should not simply disconnect media.

Hi David, I tried a restart of the G5, same thing, I thought it couldn’t be the array as a lot of the clips were online. I have had this once before and was wondering if it’s something that Apple have introduced by way of a bug?

So you are saying the clips are online, but they show offline thumbnail in the timeline?

    Trash the thumbnail cache.

    Got ya.

Alright, going to start over here.

You said that the timeline was conformed overnight.

How’d you conform it, or did someone recapture overnight?
