Yeah, definitely funniest one I have seen. This was great! Also second Shane on the drop shadow subtitles.

“Also, there’s a ‘reset background process’ function in the ‘Compressor’ menu that helps to clear things up.”

I would question them too. Ask them if they will put it in writing and see what they do.

September 14, 2009 at 3:14 pm in reply to: How do I physically delete a clip from within the FCP browser?Thank Steve! That is very helpful. Do you also know of a way to see which clips are being used in a project?
For instance, I have 6 takes I logged and I ended up choosing parts of 3 and 5 and now I don’t need the rest.
Thanks

September 14, 2009 at 2:42 pm in reply to: Export from FCP to FLV within FCP – Have Flash 8 – No option?Hi Andrew,
Sorry this doesn’t work for you. I suspect it may be because I am using FCP 6 and you are using FCP 5. I am not sure if FCP 7 still has this issue or not so I can’t advise upgrading for your issue.
The only reason I even use Flash now is for the alpha channel. If you have video that does not use an alpha channel you may want to consider using H.264 instead as Flash 9+ supports that now and is a superior codec in my opinion. I wish H.264 specs included alpha, I would never even touch Flash codec then.
Cheers,
Elijah

August 22, 2009 at 2:55 am in reply to: Converting AVCHD to H.264 in compressor. Is this possible? Thanks for the reply Craig. Yeah, I know that is an option I just thought I could do this within compressor.
Pretty lame that I have to go through that long extra step.
Hurry up already Apple!

Also, I would check out Dropbox if you are in the video industry/business.
This is the most cutting edge file sharing/syncing service around. Check out the tour on their front page.
You can share 5 GB files with ease.

Use H.264.
I have gotten some amazing bitrates with the following H.264 settings. I just grab compressors H.264 300 Kbps preset and configure as below:
Video
- 420 x 270
- 125-175 Kbps (yes video)
- keyframes at 75
- 15fps
Audio
- mono
- 64-94kbps
- AAC
I am amazed by what I can get out of H.264!! My total bitrate for this is the same as a decent quality MP3! Granted this is for the talent standing and talking and not much action but wow is this a great codec.
Edit – This is pushing the bar but this file is 1.5 minutes long and 2.2 MB with the above settings.
If you were to open the file with MediaInfo Mac you would see that it has a total bitrate of 201 Kbps combined video (119kbps) and audio (78.7kbps).
Ps. You can change the extension back to *.mov to watch it in Quicktime. I just change it to *.flv so the flash player accepts it.
