August 18, 2009 at 7:12 pmLower the data rate (kilobits per second) until the file is the size you want (probably under 10MB). Depending on the content, you can also lower the frame rate to 15fps. Both will reduce your file size.

August 18, 2009 at 8:41 pmSend it using a service such as https://www.webcargo.net. The client gets a link where he can stream or download the file. Works like a charm.

August 19, 2009 at 1:11 amDepending on your email provider and the email provider of the person you are trying to send it to you may not be able to email it at all. Some email providers put a limit on the file size you can send and receive. So in short email is never a good option.
Posting online is a much better option, you can post larger files and thus higher quality files.
Mobile me is great for this.

August 19, 2009 at 5:58 pmIn cases like this, assuming this is a preview vid, i like to crank the audio settings down. Mono, 64 kb/s or lower will gain a lot of extra space for vid and/or vid quality.

August 22, 2009 at 12:26 amUse H.264.
I have gotten some amazing bitrates with the following H.264 settings. I just grab compressors H.264 300 Kbps preset and configure as below:
Video
- 420 x 270
- 125-175 Kbps (yes video)
- keyframes at 75
- 15fps
Audio
- mono
- 64-94kbps
- AAC
I am amazed by what I can get out of H.264!! My total bitrate for this is the same as a decent quality MP3! Granted this is for the talent standing and talking and not much action but wow is this a great codec.
Edit – This is pushing the bar but this file is 1.5 minutes long and 2.2 MB with the above settings.
If you were to open the file with MediaInfo Mac you would see that it has a total bitrate of 201 Kbps combined video (119kbps) and audio (78.7kbps).
Ps. You can change the extension back to *.mov to watch it in Quicktime. I just change it to *.flv so the flash player accepts it.

August 22, 2009 at 12:41 amAlso, I would check out Dropbox if you are in the video industry/business.
This is the most cutting edge file sharing/syncing service around. Check out the tour on their front page.
You can share 5 GB files with ease.
