Figured it out, pretty obvious. The two clips that I want to do a “through edit” on need to be the same source, then “join through edit” is accessible.
As far as the XDCAM vs. Prores sequence goes, no reason just inexperience! I thought that it would render faster this way, mainly. I will play around with it.
I am having an issue with Compressor in timecode. I have source material which is EX3/Mpeg 2/1080 24p, I edited my sequence, exported it to self-contained file and it starts at 1:00:00:00 (playback in Quictime Pro 7 verifies this), when I open it in compressor and preview it the timecode starts at 00:59:56:10. I am suspecting this has to do with the framerate.
Slightly offtopic but… I found speedtest.net to have unreliable test sites.
I dual test with it and https://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest for an average, we just did a Livestream the other day and speedtest.net gave me some very misleading readings.
Thanks John, I deleted the folders in /var/spool/qmaster and reset background processing but no cigar, I downloaded compressor repair and it finally got rid of them.
