This is awesome! I am so glad the ProRes family has alpha now!!!

    Thanks for reporting your feedback.

  • [Dan Brockett] “Assuming you need to buy one and have no friends you can mooch or borrow one off of, I would check out any of the Canon Vixias. Even the discontinued ones from last year are excellent and the new crop that replaced them are even more pro.

I ended up buying the 5D MKII instead but I really like the HFS100 but it is over $1,000.00. Check out the lower end models and the last years models. All are 1080p (over 59.94)

These cameras are ok for still shots but forget about them for panning and motion. They turn to mush.

The standard chroma keyer in FCP may end up being your weakest link. The other 2 that will contend are poor lighting and the camera.

I would get away from the standard keyer. I am using Primatte, it is good but only uses one core. After Snow Leopard coms out I am moving to a keyer which uses GPU and/or all 8 cores.

    Woo-hoo! You’re right!

I just installed the update yesterday and there’s a lot of nice little things…well, little things that were really stupid in the first place but are finally fixed.

Speed changes that don’t ripple the timeline! Add multiple transitions at once!

I can honestly say, since installing the upgrade I’ve wanted to punch the screen a good 10% less…LOL.”

All you have to do to succeed in software is to consistently suck less with every release.

  • I should add that I know AVCHD is technically H.264 but not the kind that plays in Quicktime.

    Thank you Jeremy.

    That worked. I used https://www.digitalrebellion.com/pref_man.htm

I was able to export the movie and then just for kicks went and restored my backup and then it gave me the error again so it was definitely an issue with my preferences.

Now I have to go and reconfigure my preferences again if I want to keep this error from happening again.

Thanks again Jeremy, you really saved me time and headache!

    Cheers,

    Elijah

[Rafael Amador] “[Elijah Lynn] “No multi-core support either. 🙁 ”
The tests in the “Prores White Papers” show that FC7 is able to use the 8 cores when installed on Snow Leopard.
They made the test with a pre-release of the next system.
    Cheers,
    Rafael”

Thanks for pointing that out Rafael! Can’t wait for Snow Leopard. I will probably wait to do the upgrade for FCP and SL all at once.

    Cheers,

    Elijah

Just an FYI. God did not build the timecode window. The developers did. They were human.

    Hey Dan. Yes.

Watch this video from Ripple Training. It is pretty sweet, you can even start editing the same sequence right after sending to compressor. I really like Brian Gary’s narration too!
