It means the application can not find the footage. Use Layer/Video layers/ Replace Footage to replace the file. You should have gotten a warning to this effect when you opened the file as well.

sounds like you have a shape layer. Try rasterizing the layer. If you want the shape to remain a vector mask create a new layer and drag (or option drag to copy) the vector mask to it and apply the gradient you want to the new layer.

You can use Stroke path from the Paths panel flyout menu to get a rudimentary simulation of pressure. Pressure goes from 0 to 100 to 0 along the stroke, based on the tool settings of the tool chosen to stroke with in the dialog.

I you used video layers for all the animation, use render video to render a video of the composited layers.

Sounds like you opened a index color mode image. Try converting to RGB.

Layer Comps save Visibility ( whether they are marked as visible in the layers palette), Position(where the pixels are in the document window), and Appearance ( settings in Layers Styles). The changes for the different comps would need to utilize these options. It is not going to remember that the pixels were a different color last time unless you use a style to change the color.

Check the Leading setting in the character palette. Sounds like the Leading is too small.
