Are you exporting to a file type that supports transparency? Otherwise the layer will be flattened upon save giving the white background.

You can assign keyboard shortcuts for Go To > Next Frame and Previous Frame in Edit/Keyboard Shortcuts. Select the Palette Menus item in the popup and expand the Animation (Timeline) item to get at the commands to set a Keyboard shortcut for.

Are you using CS3 Standard or Extended? 3D support is an Extended only feature. Within Extended you can get supported formats into Photoshop via File/Open or Layer/3D Layers/New Layer from 3D file

Are you looking to create straight(unmatted), or premultiplied alpha channels based on transparency? If so in CS3 you can use File/Export/Render Video to render still image formats that support transparency with Alpha options for Straight, Premultiplied with white, black, or a custom color.

You can use File/Automate/Batch with the source set to opened files and use the File Naming options for adding the number to the file name.

This is a known issue with the public beta build. It was fixed later, and works correctly in the shipping product.

Have you tried File/Scripts/Export Layers To Files? Use Jeff Tranberry’s adapted script to get png as an option from the script. Get the Layers to PNG script from https://www.tranberry.com/photoshop/photoshop_scripting/index.html

Did you remove the other targa plug-in when you put the 7.0 version in? What happens if you try it in CS2 instead of Photoshop 6? It works as expected for me on Save and reopen in CS2.(transparency is saved) Note it will not change the behavior of files previously saved with the other plug-in. They have already been written without transparency, and included Alpha if present and selected in the save options.

Regarding the problems with Photoshop 7 Have you tried clearing the Preferences on Launch?
For the Targa behavior. In Photoshop 7.0 the Targa plug-in saved Transparency information. This created a lot of complaints from users who were used to the way the plug-in worked previously. So much so that the plug-in had to be re-released with its old behavior. You can replace the CS2 targa plug-in with the 7.0 plug-in and have it work the way you are used to.
