Select Paste as Pixels if that is what you are wanting. If you make a single channel active and do a paste you will only have Pixels and Path as the available Options. How are you selecting the text in Illustrator? The Smart Object shouldn’t be blank unless there is no fill on the type you are pasting.

Go to the paths palette. With the shape layer active, select the Vector Mask path, then add what you need with the pen tool. Make sure to select the correct option in the Options bar for the new path for whether it add, subtracts or intresects any existing paths,

February 27, 2008 at 10:47 pm in reply to: Scripting text causes mac and pc to run out of memoryOK I see the slow down when using Faux Bold in CS2. If I just use small caps is seems to be going OK. Unfortunately I have not found a work around for you in CS2. CS3 looks to be handling this much better than CS2.

February 27, 2008 at 5:58 pm in reply to: Scripting text causes mac and pc to run out of memoryOnce I set the contained quotes to single quote instead of double quotes in order for the script to run, I have not had a problem running your script with Faux Bold and Small Caps on the original type layer. Are you updated to 10.0.1? Do you get out of memory error if you save without going through save for web?

Note that you need to convert your frame based aniumation to timeline based animation before adding keyframes via the button on the bottom right of the animation panel. You could also try using keyframing of mask position to do the reveal. That way you are not bringing the whole layer up at the same time.
