    Hi,

I am using photoshop cs2. I intend to edit the photo.

    1) So I open photoshop and then say file–>open–><>. The image is a gif file.
    2) But I see that everything is disabled. The layer, filters, etc. The only options available are the tools like crop, select, etc and canvas size, image size etc.
    3) I am not being able to do anything with the image. I am not even able create a new layer since the layer menu is disabled.
    4) I have also tried to save the file as a tiff and then make changes but the result is the same as above.

Any help how can I unlock the layer/image will be of help.

    Thanks,
    Anand

If you are Mac OS then in the finder select the file and do > FILE > GET INFO and change ownership & permissions and details.

I am on windows and I don’t think it is a permission issue. Also the file is not read only.

Sounds like you opened a index color mode image. Try converting to RGB.
