Open the generated media dialog box. Change the text as desired. CLOSE the generated media dialog box. DONE.
There is no “save” – you just edit it and go away. As Mike said, when you save the project the changes you made to the text will also be saved.

I had this problem once using standard DV files. My solution at that time was to render the project out to a new DV file, pop that new file on a new timeline, and it printed to tape fine – with audio.

Is the dialog not showing up? If yes, it’s probably hidden under the start bar. Move the start bar out of the way and drag the window back where you can use it.
If it’s not there, it may be in one of the docking areas. If that’s where it is, just undock it and move it back to the main area of the screen.

On the border effect dialog, look at the timeline area. You will see the word “border” to the left of the timeline area. To the left of that is a little triangle. Click it.

Yes, as you’ve seen Excalibur needs at least the “a” release. Something else that might help you in the future, all “letter” releases are full installs so you don’t need to install 8.0 and then 8.0a and then 8.0b and then 8.0c. Instead, you can simply install 8.0c.

Theo, depends on what you mean by plugins. There’s other plugins like Excalibur and Ultimate S that are “plugins” but enhance productivity rather than add new effects or transitions. I’d hate to go back to editing without scripts.

Click on the button above the preview screen that looks like a circle that’s half dark and half light. It’s a FEATURE of Vegas that you turned on so you can see the difference of what it looks like before and after.

The timeline area in that dialog is resizable. It sounds like you’re is resized to fill the whole dialog. Just move your mouse slowly toward the top of the dialog. As soon as it turns into an up/down arrow, click and drag downward to resize the timeline area smaller.
