I don’t know if there’s a free one – you can look on the Sundance site and see but I don’t specifically recall one. Probably the best one for this purpose would be in Randall’s Veggie Toolkit. It’s very cheap and and a free trial (if you do them fast enough, you may finish before the trial expires letting you do them for free).

You will need to use your photo editing program to downsize the images. Many allow batch processing so you may be able to do them all at once.

Even if you turn on External preview? That should activate the connection the same as PTT.

I’d try a different cable anyway. Or, at least, try that cable hooked to a camera and see if THAT works.

Excalibur 4 is for Vegas 5.0b or above. Sorry but no support for Vegas 4 but fully supported on Vegas 6 once it is released.

  • One of the new tools in Excalibur 4 was made specifically for this purpose. It will take the stereo event, copy it to another track, and the make one “left only” and the other one “right only”.

That’s really your best way to do this – just create a separate track and use a volume envelope to control them individually.

I’ve always done manual but when I’ve stuck a blank tape in I thought the other option was greyed out. I may have been mistaken. I’ll have to look more closely the next time I stick in a blank tape.

I mean I use “Manual” on the Vegas 5 dialog box.

  • The audio being shorter is probably why you were getting the overlaps.

  • Then I’m not sure what’s happening. What if you double-click each one of them? After it’s added to the timeline it should move the cursor to the end automatically. Then just double-click the next one.
