Are you sure the “Save Markers” box was checked on the Render As screen?

Did you move the file after it was rendered? (Marker information is in a separate file)

The Win2K system is an old slow “test” system and not used for regular editing. You would NOT want to see test results from that system. But Vegas 6 runs fine and it runs any script I throw at it.

  • The same media can be added multiple times (without duplicating it on the disc) so I can just add the media again, tell it to start on chapter 4, and change the chapter out to the beginning of chapter 5.

Vegas 6 + DVDA 3 runs just fine on Win2K. I have it on one system here. Just update to .Net 1.1 sp 1 and DirectX 9.0c and install away.

  • Try adding all the clips into a Playlist. That should simplify your “play all”.

Personally, I just render the video into ONE MPG file. My first chapter point IS a “play all” button. I can then create additional chapter points wherever I want.

By using odd framerates and odd sizes, you are requiring a ton of processing to get back to the standard size and framerates. That is the cause of your long rendering times. What can you do? Stick with the standard DV-AVI files instead.

  • When Tsunami was updated for Vegas 5, I used the new feature in Vegas 5 – sub-clips. Some other people mentioned this as well so when the tools were moved to and updated for Excalibur 4, I added an option to use sub-clips OR simply copy like the Vegas 4 version. So… Excalibur 4 will do what you are wanting.

As for the current situation, the only way I know to extend the sub-clip is to actually use the trimmer.

April 28, 2005 at 3:28 pm in reply to: Audio dropout problem

While there may only be one head, the first indication to me that my camera’s head was going out of alignment was audio skipping when playing back on the deck (which didn’t happen using the OTHER camera’s tapes). The audio almost totally disappeared before the video started showing any effects. So, I’m just going by personal experience here. Audio dies first, video dies second is my experience. Playing back the “bad” tape on the “bad” camera produced fine results.

  • Render to MPEG2 again (from your original source) using a lower bitrate.

Yes. Use the Marker Wizard in Excalibur. It has a function that will do this exact task.
