Just wonderring if anyone out there running Vegas 6 with Windows 2000 is having any problems.

I’d like to upgrade to Vegas 6 if my dual-P3 system will reap any benefits (better multi-proc utilization…right?).

My only caveat is that Vegas 6 uses a lot of Microsoft .net stuff, and I’m worried that my current rock-solid Win 2000/ Vegas 5 implementation will be replaced by something less stable if Windows 2000 doesn’t support the .net stuff well, or something like that. Dunno.

Sure would like to take advantage of faster renderring in Vegas 6 and the copy protection stuff in DVDA 3 though.

    Any comments would be appreciated.

Vegas 6 + DVDA 3 runs just fine on Win2K. I have it on one system here. Just update to .Net 1.1 sp 1 and DirectX 9.0c and install away.

Thanks Edward! Did you notice any improvements in renderring time, if a dual-proc system?

The Win2K system is an old slow “test” system and not used for regular editing. You would NOT want to see test results from that system. But Vegas 6 runs fine and it runs any script I throw at it.

I use win2k (sp4) on 2 machines. I am experiencing one rendering problem. I can not render to MPEG2 PAL using CBR. The thing crashes at around 200Mb.
As this problem manifests itself in V5.0d and V6.0a, it may not affect you if it does not show up in V5.0d. Again, if you do not render MPEG2 using CBR then this problem is not relevant.

The installation of 6.0a on a very clean machine was faultless. Unfortunately, I have not used 6.0a apart from testing the render options so I can not advise on other aspects.
