This is normal. What you are doing is zooming into the smaller video frame instead of back to the original full size individual frames. You need to zoom out on the individual pieces to maintain full resolution (i.e. undo your initial zoom which created the PIP)

It handles it quite well. I’ve done MANY 2 hour events in Vegas and a handfull that were longer.

Yes, the solution is to uninstall Excalibur 4.0 and then install Excalibur 4.1. It appears you had “mix” of the two installed. Between 4.0 and 4.1 I had to change the names of a couple of files necessitating the uninstall requirement.

See the “Unknown stream – HP digital photo camera” post just below. It’s the exact same question – just a different camera. You can find links to the proper coded (you need an MJPEG codec) in the “Vegas FAQ” section at the link below my name.

Did you do a custom install of Quicktime including the Authoring Tools? This is required. At this point you can simply install Quicktime again and, when asked, to a “Custom” install. Just pick everything on the list and you’ll be safe.

The explorer views don’t have “thumbnail” as an option. You can add the files to the media pool and see thumbnails fine.

Are you on 6.0 or 6.0a? If on 6.0, update to 6.0a (build 99) and see if it works.

You apply the border to the image itself – not the track. The border should be tight against the image (of course it’s hard to tell without seeing the image(s)). There’s also a small triangle to the left of the border FX timeline which controls whether the effect is added pre or post pan/crop changes.

As for effects, I’m betting that the crossfade is the best option for 99% of your transitions. However, Vegas has a TON of transitions you can easily add.
