I usually do it the other way: Leave the Master track alone and adjust the tracks individually with both the track header volume and the volume envelope. Definitely make sure nothing goes in the red. Generally speaking, I like to keep everything below -6

At $9000, it’s a tad more expensive than the Sony camera. As for a “true HD stream”, it’s my understading that it can output full uncompressed so you could simply use it as a camera to feed a deck bypassing the tape completely on the Canon.

NO. I recommend you use Mike’s technique of just using a text arrow. It can be rotated and resized as needed via Pan/Crop.

Sounds like you may be hitting a 2Gig limit. What format did you really render to and what settings are picked in the preferences?

So, you won’t be taping the entire time. You just want the capture program to pull in one frame. Vidcap CAN capture snapshots. If numbered correctly you could then just do a File – Import, pick the first one, and check the “image sequence” box and it will bring them all to the timeline as ONE clip with each image being one frame.

Yes, Ultimate S 2 can capture stills at set intervals. So can Excalibur. However, in this case it sounds more like you want 1 frame each from MANY files.
