You might want to check the option in Excalibur to let Multi-cam delete the markers for you. This would eliminate that problem.
If it plays back in sync on the timeline, the rendered version should also be in sync. I usually render each “piece” out to a separate DV-AVI file. I then will create a “final” project where I assemble all the DV-AVI pieces for rendering to MPEG2.

A few things are needed for DVDA to see both files:
1) The MPEG2 file should NOT have an audio stream
2) The MPEG2 file and AC3 file should both have the same name (only different extensions)
3) The MPEG2 file and AC3 file should be in the same directoryIf you pull an MPEG2 file into DVDA and it doesn’t automatically find the AC3, all is not lost. Just go to the properties for that video and manually drag the AC3 file to the Audio entry box. No need for re-rendering anything.

Was the Multi-cam section in sync on the timeline? What version of Vegas are you using? How did you create the multi-cam section (i.e. manually, script like Excalibur or Ultimate S)? If you used a script, which one and what version?

Go to File – Properties – Audio tab. Change the settings there to match what your card can handle. You’ll have to check the documentation of the card to determine that information.

Scripts can definitely read the “Active Take Name”. Of course the script won’t be able to rename the file with the file OPEN. I suppose the script could read the active take name, active take media file, remove it from the timeline, and then rename the file(s) (remember, you now have TWO files for each clip – one video in a standard DV-AVI and one audio in a W64 file).
Alternately, the script could write out a text file with the active take name and media file name in a format that could be searched in something like Excel.
You probably would have been better off initially by dragging all the subclips to the timeline, having a script that put regions around each piece putting the Take Name as the region name and then having it “render” the regions to new DV-AVI files (i.e. audio + video in ONE file)

So basically you’re saying there’s something like a 3 minute chunk of the timeline you really wish to REMOVE. Just create a selection area around the section to remove, press Delete, and the CTRL-SHIFT-F (assuming auto ripple is turned off.

At the beginning of the timeline, use the “Camera 2” button. Wait until you see video on track 1 before using the “Camera 1” button.

Audio is totally separate. Just use Multi-cam to get the desired camera angles. Then add volume envelopes to all audio tracks and adjust your audio as desired picking the best audio from all available tracks. There’s no problem using ANY audio with the master video track.

Do you want them crossfaded? Or do you want to fade to black between each one?
In Options – Preferences you can set the length as you said but you can also set the amount of overlap. (Cut to Overlap Conversion).
If you already have the events on the timeline, the answer is scripts. With a script you can program both the lengths and the overlaps. Take a look here for a free script that will crossfade the selected events (the total length of the project will DECREASE as the events will be moved to create the overlaps)

That should happen each time you change a tape or each time capture loses and regains focus.

Can’t seem to figure out what the heck is going on.”Are you SURE that “Device Control” is turned back on??? Also, a reboot never hurts if you haven’t tried that.
