To answer this question, you have to give more information. What are you going to do with the render?

If you are trying to create a DVD, go with MPEG2.

If you are just rendering some pieces that will be put back on the timeline later, DV-AVI.

If you are preparing to print-to-tape, DV-AVI.

Remember that Magic Bullet only simplifies the application of the looks. Generally speaking, they can be manually duplicated using the standard Vegas effects (using multiple effects) and these would render much faster. However, it would take a while to get the right sequence of effects and the right settings for those effects.

You mean the volume slider on the track header to react to changes in a volume envelope? Click on the red “Automation Settings” circle (not the arm for record circle). Then pick “Show Automation Controls”

Vegas 6 handles both DirectX and VST so it should work directly in Vegas. Vegas 5 and before handles DirectX so it should work there as well.

You might also want to look at the Sony Noise Reduction plugin.

Don’t know about the current version of Quicktime but previous versions required installing the “Authoring” components.

Yes, Ignore Event grouping will work. So will UNgrouping. So will locking the audio. So will using a script to do the splitting.

I usually don’t worry about the audio being split as you won’t hear it anyway. I know you do automatically get a small fade out/fade in on the audio when it splits but that can be eliminated by turning off Options – Quickfade Audio Edits. With that off, the splits don’t matter.

Beyond that, if someone DOES know, they won’t be able to comment on it. If someone comments on it, they don’t know! That’s the nature of the NDA agreements.

Render that. Add the rendered file back to the timeline. Now compress that new file again. Repeat as necessary.
