How are you capturing the Video8? Instead of trying to correct the bad capture, I’d be looking as to why it did not capture correctly at the beginning.

Your system sounds plenty capable for capturing video. How many hard drives do you have?

start – control panel – performance and maintenance – system (or just right-click “My computer” and choose “Properties”)

Hardware tab – click on Device Manager

IDE ATA/ATAPI channels

Primary and/or Secondary IDE channels (I would just check both)

Advanced Settings tab
What does the “Current Transfer Mode” say you’re using?

You can look at my newsletters (link under my name) to get some guidelines. It’s geared toward the full versions of Vegas but many things will still apply.

If Vegas 6, make sure you’re updated to Vegas 6.0c. If Vegas Movie Studio, you should already be fine.

Then it sounds like you’re capturing correctly. The main things I would look at now are:

Are you capturing to a drive OTHER THAN drive c:?

Is DMA active on that drive?

HOW are you capturing the analog?

You should be capturing via Firewire. You can do analog by going through a device such as the Canopus ADVC series which will convert analog to firewire.

I guess the first question would be: Do you need more than 4 video or audio tracks? Beyond that…

Do you want to use Velocity Envelopes to variably change the speed of clips?

Do you want to leverage the power of scripts? (For example, I’d be LOST without Excalibur)
