Hey Sunil, Have you set your import settings on the AVID to invert alpha? As AVID sees alphas in reverse of AE.(black on white instead white on black) You also might want to try a different title format. Like maybe a .tif or a targa file. Let us know

Hey, Melvin… don’t kill yourself trying to go direct into the DS from the ipod. Transfer your audio via firewire to your workfolder that that is labeled “audio in” then import the tune the regular way into DS,thru your capture tool.
For the tape capturing question, it’s all in your manual…check it out.

Hey Kim, what Kind of system are you running? If you’re on a workstation. I would power down and resead the video and audio cards. Also did you load any new software over the weekend, that could have knocked your AVID drivers for a flip. Failing that possibly reloading your AVID software might be a worhtwhile effort.

  • Not sure about MAC but in the PC world holding down the pause key at the sametime as your play or reverse key gives you a scrub.

Hey Pierre, it sounds like you’re trying to stripe from your editor.
Just do it on the deck…set tc setting to internal and preset and enter the time that you want to start at. Now you can stripe from the editor doing an assemble edit into your striped section. I’d let the deck do the whole tape though and not tie up my edit system striping tapes. take care

    Hey Jay
Being that you now edit on EDIT* there are a few things that you will miss going to an AVID and a few things you will love. Slomo on the timeline is a few more clicks in AVID. But AVID’s media management is second to none…epecially if you’re diging alot of footage. Subclipping as you dig is a nice option too in AVID(not sure if FCP has this) Learnig curve is minimal if you’ve been editing on EDIT* Multiple timelines is not a problem… I cut and paste versions all the time for clients. As far as stability I’ve been working on the same AVID Xpress for 5 years and if we have 1 crash a week it’s a suprise to us. And if I do crash AVID brings everything back within a couple of edits or usaually right where I left it. Oh thats a view from a AVID cutter but don’t close your mind to anything, FCP was pretty spanky at NAB but like Shannon says “what are you gonna do with it?”

  • Hey Natalia,, I think we need more info. First of all, what size are your graphics that you’re importing? I use the import settings everyday and it’s usually very reliable. Are you working at 1:1 or DV 25 or 15s. Have you rendered your graphics for playout?
    Let us know…
