Only use DVD if you are bringing your OWN dvd player and are able to test it all the way through prior to your presentation.

Render to an AVI full quality on your laptop as a backup. Play it through on your laptop ahead of time, and dont have any other programs open.

It will work, unless the DVD has macrovision; some do, some dont. If you have a MX-1 switcher or TBC or such, it will remove the macrovision.
If not, use a program such as DVD Shrink to rip the dvd, which will remove all copy protection and macrovision, then you can rip your dvd with vegas.

This also Comes in handy if you have 3-6 year old kids that insist on doing the movies themselves.

I am not condoning this type of activity, but for your purposes, you should be ok.

Thanks, guess the delete/resize will do the trick. Sometimes i will rely on splits to separate scenes or whatever. Or i’ll accidently split instead of splat for some unknown reason, not realizing until later.

In studio, you can select both clips, right click, then “combine clips” and it will join them back together.

You can do this successfully, as long as your transitions are not complex. Pretty much fades and cuts.

I use my export preview to DV cam via firewire, then i hook up a separate audio from my headphones out. I then take the RCA out from my camcorder along with the audio out from my computer and go in to either another camcorder, my standalone DVD burner, or a VHS recorder.

I have used this successfully a couple of times, only when i was in a time crunch. And there was nothing complex in the timeline, just a few titles and crossfades. It worked out ok for a preview copy for my customer, but i would never use this as a final.

I prefer to go ahead and render the final project export to miniDV so i will always have the footage for future use.

Cant believe this doesn’t exist.
Spent a couple hours making some pictures fly from left to right, diagonal, up and down, etc…. then they stop in the middle, expand to full screen, shrink back down, then continue on in their original direction.

Im working on one where the pictures come on screen like a train, then go around in a circle like a merry go round, when it gets to the top, it comes down to the middle of the circle, then gets big, pauses, then back to its place in the circle and the next one comes up.

All this over a nice digital juice background, looks sweet. Lots of work though, and lots of tracks. Definately not something that I would do for each slideshow, but if i can get a nice stash of them, i’ll never have to build another slideshow from scratch, just drop new pictures as takes on top of the existing pics. better yet, i’ll just rename the new pictures over the old ones and voila!

Wondering if i can copy track motion on one picture and keep them all on one track, or if each picture has to be on a separate track for this to work. I think so.

Would people pay for these veg files do you think? I would imagine that a collection of these could be marketed easily.

Use pan/crop function to make a box larger than the photo, which will actually shrink the photo. You can then copy and paste attributes to the others, or adjust individually.

I’m looking for something a bit more fancy. There are apple programs used by final cut and that whole suite that are really nice. The menu buttons/motion buttons will fade in, the text will sweep up on to the screen, and the like. I’m not looking for the basic, photo background and thumbnail boxes with a bit of text. I’ve been making these for years, and they’re really boring.
Normally, I will use a photo from the event and create a menu from that, with either text or thumbnails. Just tired of the same ol’ look.

Instead of DVD Shrink, couldn’t you just click “optimize” in DVDA to make it fit exactly to the disc? I’ve never used DL discs before, heard too many bad things about them.
I would think it would not need to be shrunk all that much for a dual layer disc.
Re: DVDShrink, is there a setting to tell it that is going to a DL DVD that you missed?
