You may already know this, but you can use a photo or image and set it as a background for menus (I think you right click on the menu and “set background image”. I use Photoshop Elements to tweak photos, say of woodgrain or mossy rock, and add a frosty square in the center for buttons and save as a png. Pretty quick once you do a few.

I’m looking for something a bit more fancy. There are apple programs used by final cut and that whole suite that are really nice. The menu buttons/motion buttons will fade in, the text will sweep up on to the screen, and the like. I’m not looking for the basic, photo background and thumbnail boxes with a bit of text. I’ve been making these for years, and they’re really boring.
Normally, I will use a photo from the event and create a menu from that, with either text or thumbnails. Just tired of the same ol’ look.

agreed that the transitions etc built into DVDSP on the mac are pretty cool. Wish DVDA had similar, without having to create transition as video files to bring in
