Also, the youtube app on my Android phone ALWAYS defaults to 144p when a video starts playing. I always have to change it manually and by the time it takes hold at least 30 seconds have passed. Pain in the neck.

Yeah, I had the same thing happen to me a few weeks ago. Never knew what that button did, and suddenly it turned itself off. It does the same when you drag sequences into your sequence, not just nests.

That explains how you can open a sequence in your source monitor and edit it there, then drag it into your other sequence.

Slide the beginning and end points to the section of the sequence you want to use in the other sequence first, then import it into the other sequence. You can make a duplicate in the project file first so you have a copy of the entire sequence. I’m sure there’s an easier way, but I specialize in simple solutions from my simple mind 😉

Hey Dave, Could you explain what you mean by making separate timelines? I know you don’t mean separate tracks and I know you don’t mean separate sequences. I googled it but there’s nothing on making separate timelines for each part of a longer clip.

Just out of curiosity, I’m an amateur who just makes videos for my own amusement, but when I want a title to fade in and out, I use fade to black transitions rather than keying the opacity. Isn’t that more time consuming, and, is it possible that could be the cause of your problem, with PPro sometimes not going back to full opacity until the next title clip brings it there?
Again, I’m not a pro, everything I know about PPro I’ve taught myself, but sometimes my simple mind stumbles upon simple solutions.

What I ended up doing was re-installing the previous version of Audition. Normally the latest upgrades aren’t backward compatible but in this case it worked. I can live without going straight from Audition to Media Encoder. Hope that helps.

You can do the same in Premiere Pro. When you go to export media, when the window opens where you choose your codec and make other tweaks, just position the in and out points under the video (the blue line). Start at zero on the left and move the right cursor to where you want the clip to end. Send to AME and set up the next clip, until you’ve done the entire clip. No need for AME to finish encoding.

ok, I’ll give it a shot. Just so you know I just make comedy videos for myself, I’m not under any deadlines with clients looking over my shoulder, and your suggestions, to me, are helpful at best, but I have a feeling the guys who do this for a living will benefit.
