Hey I’m working with h264 .mov files in the Premiere workflow. I’d love to find a simple or ‘dumb’ app that can split large .mov files into smaller >15gb files for easier use with cloud backup storage. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

QuickTime has a trim feature where you can set an in and out point on a file and export that section as a new file, if that helps.

You can do the same in Premiere Pro. When you go to export media, when the window opens where you choose your codec and make other tweaks, just position the in and out points under the video (the blue line). Start at zero on the left and move the right cursor to where you want the clip to end. Send to AME and set up the next clip, until you’ve done the entire clip. No need for AME to finish encoding.

If you want to split w/o re-encoding, take a look at this video splitter (for Windows)
