I would guess that you’re trying to correct and grade a clip with less data to work with. You might get it perfect after much tweaking only to find that it looks completely different on the original file.

For me, doing anything on the proxy file just bogs everything down. I get a lot smoother workflow working with the original files, for some reason. And I’m talking 4k mp4 files as opposed to proxy files of 720 SD mxf files. Huge difference, yet the 4K files run much smoother for me. Go figure.

I’m pretty sure a couple of solutions have already been provided. Did they not work for you?

Cool! By in and out points, I meant on the timeline. Don’t set in and out points using markers, drag the end of the sequence to where you want it to end, then drag the beginning of the sequence to where you want it to start, then slide the whole thing over to the beginning of the sequence (00:00:00, etc.)

But editing it in the source monitor is better since you will still have the original unedited sequence.

Yeah, I went to check if the same settings were available in PPro and for some reason it wouldn’t load. So I had to reboot. Then I got hungry and went on a food run.

You know, I see LOTS of PPro bugs here that only one person is experiencing. This seems to be one of them. Have you ever had this problem before? Or have you just not noticed? Do you have other footage with a lot of sky shot in them that you could compare?

Video Rendering settings
Video Rendering settings control the picture quality, compression settings, and color depth that Premiere Elements uses when you play video from the Expert view timeline.

To access Video Rendering settings, choose Edit > Project Settings > Video Render. These settings include the following options:

Maximum Bit Depth

Allows Premiere Elements to use up to 32‑bit processing, even if the project uses a lower bit depth. Selecting this option increases precision but decreases performance.

File Format

Specifies the format of the preview video.

Compressor

Identifies the codec (compressor/decompressor) that Premiere Elements applies to generate movie previews. The project preset defines the codec. You cannot change it because it must conform to the DV standard.

By “rendering” do you mean rendering the timeline to play back smoother, or encoding the clip with Media Encoder, for example? If you’re encoding what codec are you using?

Also, you can eliminate most of the banding by adding like 3-5% film grain to your footage.

You see the source monitor? See at the bottom there’s a film strip icon and a sound waveform icon? If you click on and drag the video IMAGE, both video and audio will appear on the timeline. If you grab the film strip and drag, only the video will appear on the timeline. If you grab the waveform and drag, only the audio track will appear on the timeline.

Just want to confirm your problem. The one time I tried to export a clip with sped up, pitch adjusted audio, it exported but there was no sound.

I never have a problem with mp3 files but, then again, I’m weird.
