Yeah, I know all about that. Even one pixel over to the second monitor wacks things out. No, that wasn’t the problem, and, as I said, when I went from “Fit” to “100%” the video was much larger than the window but no scroll bars. HOWEVER….today there are scroll bars. Go figure.

Dude! I really enjoyed working with your file. What a difference from h264! Anyway, I had no problem with a proxy file, and the original was still fairly easy to work with. I made a DNxSD 720p proxy and it played smooth as silk even as I was grading it. The only advantage my PC has over yours is 12 gigs of RAM. So maybe when you get your 16 gig chip it should play a lot smoother for you.

I decided to upgrade to CC 2017. I installed Audition first, then Premiere Pro. All works fine.

I’m an amateur but sometimes a solution pops into my head that may have been overlooked. I don’t know if this will work but have you tried placing an adjustment layer above the nest, cutting it where the dissolve takes place and placing the dissolve there? Or even, placing the vignette on the adjustment layer?
I have had trouble with effects on nested layers. Perhaps you could try unnesting them. I don’t see why you should need to nest two tracks in order to apply a vignette but, again, I’m an amateur.

Did you install Audition first this time? That seems to be the kicker according to what I read on the adobe forum. Premiere can’t see Audition unless Audition is already installed.

How about if you go inside the folder and select all the clips, instead of selecting the folder. Does that work the same as selecting one clip or does that also create thousands of clips? If they’re all DNG files numbered in numerical order, possibly Premiere sees them as individual images rather than video. When I export a clip as PNG files, when I re-import the clip there’s an option to import entire sequence. Maybe by checking that option it will import properly. You won’t see that if you just select the folder and import it.
Maybe that might help. I’m far from expert but sometimes I nail it.

Do you mean after you draw your mask it disappears? I have no idea how experienced you are in PPro so I’m just gonna suggest something in the event you’re completely new to this. Forgive me if I insult your intelligence, but in the effects panel under Opacity you should see “Mask 1”. Click on it and the mask shape will appear. Again, forgive me if you already know this, and your problem is yet another quirk of Adobe’s rushed upgrade schedule.

I guess there’s a difference between adding an effect and actually changing the color information in a clip. Mind you, I’m pretty sure working with proxies wouldn’t be such a major new PPro feature if you couldn’t do much with them. As I said, I’m just a hobbyist. I’m hardly the last word on any subject here. That’s just my opinion, and my opinion usually draws out the guys who really know what they’re talking about 😉

Just to let you know you’re not crazy I also had that problem when I first upgraded to CC 2015.3. The files would flash and re-process and if I scrolled down it would jump back to the top and go through the whole conforming bit all over again. It was totally useless to me. Granted I just play around, I’m not a pro so I don’t need metafiles and auto linking of video/audio, so I could just import my files from the project window.
But the reason I’m commenting here is, after a while, the media browser stopped doing all that jumping and flashing. I didn’t change anything in my preferences. It just stopped. Hopefully yours will start behaving as well eventually.
