That explains why various avi files render differently. dv is fairly fast but uncompressed avi is the one so slow. Thats what it says in the window anyway.

I can tell you this from my sad experience. The standard burnt dvd or blue ray is not a good method for archiving media. In as little as 5 years a burnt DVD can be useless. I have lost thousands of jpg because the dvd went bad. Some as little as 5 years. What remained I have put on Gold Archive which is claimed will last 100 years. 2 bucks a pop. As I am already past 90 it is not likely for me to check out the performance What is needed is a dvd created like the commercial dvd’s. My guess is the reason we do not have one readily available now is they are making too much money with the present system. There is a sucker born every minute. Have a nice day.

Thanks, You are right. That is the reason I could not find it. I have a dilemma Do I go buy the pro version when in 6 months I will be so blind I cant edit anyway? Do I want to spend that money for something of limited use? But at the same time I cant take it with me. If it weren’t for the setting up etc I would seriously consider it. To heck with it. It’s just a home movie anyway with not good source material to begin with. Leave it to Sony to know what to leave out. Thanks

There seems to be the same information in my version. Expanding my version shows lots of other columns and lots of other information. In this picture maybe you can see the one jpg that has the number 2 with it. I suppose it was used two times. I had already removed all the copies so I don’t know how they would have looked. But taking out a bunch didn’t change the length of the project so they were not brought into the timeline is the way I read it. But with this information I can soon find out.

I can find an event in project media from the timeline but can i find the media in the timeline from project media?

I usually check help for an answer but this question had no answer. I did find out anyway. Copy’s are the result of importing the same picture twice At least in this instance. I have a huge number of duplicate photos. What I need is another “good” duplicate file finder.

That explains it Simple enough I was confused about the effect of where the cursor was put. Now another question as long as I have your attention. I have duplicate pictures in the timeline which usually I don’t want there. In the project media panel there is media noted as “copy” Does Vegas say “copy” when a duplicate copy of media is imported from a different folder on the computer than the earlier copy came from? Or is it that I just copied the media twice to the timeline? Knowing which will help a lot
