<p>&#8216;Better Performance&#8217; vs &#8216;Better Quality&#8217; are only options for video playback <i>while you edit</i>, and has nothing to do with your export settings.</p>
<p>The default audio settings for ProRes video export are great as-is.  No need to change them unless your client needs something unusual.</p>

<p>The bigger issue is storage.  I&#8217;d recommend a decent-sized NVMe stick in a Thunderbolt 4 enclosure, formatted APFS.  My current portable is a 4TB Samsung 990 Pro in an ACASIS enclosure, and it just plain rips.  For&hellip;</p>

Maintenance updates will continue for a couple of years.  You won&#8217;t get any of the new Apple Intelligence features (in-app transcription), or the silence of the newer M series Macs.</p>
<p>I was also waiting for a 27&#8243;+ iMac.  Just sold my maxed 2019 and upgraded to a&hellip;</p>

Since you&#8217;re looking at the properties of an individual clip, FC shows you available options based on what&#8217;s in the file, as opposed to your projects where you get to determine the output (whether you have the channel coverage or not).</p>
<p>You can import surround / multi-channel audio files (many of the included SFX are surround files).</p>

<p>Start with GUID partition map.  If you&#8217;re using an SSD, format APFS.  If it&#8217;s a mechanical drive, use HFS+.</p>
<p>macOS and FCP utilize many of the features of APFS, and that file system was designed to take advantage of SSDs.  While Apple says you can use APFS on a mechanical drive, my experience&hellip;</p>

<p>In the zipped file you&#8217;ll find (for each project) 2 screenshots from FCP7, a straight XML export, a Batch List, and a .fcpxml conversion file.</p>
<p>Also made a new Library and imported all the .fcpxml files.  I&#8217;m on 11, so if you&#8217;re not current you should be able to re-import the .fcpxml files into whichever version you&#8217;re running.</p>

<p>FCP7 relies on QuickTime 7, which requires Sierra or earlier.  Since your MBP is a 2017 model, looks like High Sierra is the earliest OS that&#8217;ll run on it.</p>

<p>Your problem is that you&#8217;re editing from the flash drive.  It is most likely formatted ExFAT, and strange behaviors will not stop until you copy the files to a different, APFS or HFS+ formatted drive (GUID partition map, too).</p>
<p>Best to get an external Thunderbolt SSD that is properly formatted, and edit off of that.</p>

They can be unpredictable if you&#8217;re not editing on a 360 timeline.</p>
<p>Remove/replace with non-360 effects.</p>

<p>I realize you&#8217;ve sorted this out, but wanted to point out something that was overlooked.</p>

<p>1. Start with your timeline at the output resolution that you&#8217;re targeting.  By default, video/images are set to &#8216;fit&#8217; within frame in the Inspector (Spatial Conform).  Easy to override/modify.</p>

<p>A couple of things you can test to see if they help:</p>
<p>&#8211; turn off the inspector when not needed (this one surprised me)</p>
<p>&#8211; switch the browser to list view and untick &#8216;Waveforms&#8217; there</p>
<p>&#8211; could also try turning off any visual effects, again just to test interface&hellip;</p>

<p><span>2. Open the problem library in FCP</span></p>
<p><span>3. Select the library itself in Final Cut&#8217;s browser, and relink all of the files/original media</span></p>

From Apple:</p>
<p>You can reset Final Cut Pro settings to their original values.</p>

<p>Press Option-Command while opening Final Cut Pro.</p>
<p>Final Cut Pro resets the settings and adds a file named&hellip;</p>
