I’m in the middle of a pretty basic project right now, and the magnetic masking would come in really handy, so I’m pretty eager to install this update (barring any show-stoppers).

I typically don’t upgrade mid-project, but haven’t seen anything negative so far.

If you’ve upgraded already, have you seen any regression/issues? I’m on Sequoia w/M2 Studio, current on everything else.

    Not brave enough here 🙂

I use it on too many mixed systems and need to travel back and forth daily.

None here, works fine. There are reports that the download that happens the first time you do captaining has a bug that freezes it up. Check Apple’s FCP forum, there’s more activity there.

    Thanks Ben.

I just did a casual test on the laptop, lost patience, and did the update on the Studio. So far so good!

    Hi,

I waited until today to finish a job at the weekend. Updated on a Macbook Pro, 2017 with Intel i7. It works perfectly. I immediately tried the magnetic mask and it is unbelievable. I was worried that it might need a silicon chip but no it worked perfectly. I am considering re-editing a badly shot green screen key project I finished last month. It was a student project and it was technically terrible, I still have some issues with some edges. Now I am going to try some shots again as soon as I find time.

No direct plug-in compatibility problems updating on a Silicon M2 running Sonoma, and ditto re comments above about the magnetic mask – really powerful and useful.

One personally very tedious and annoying thing is that we seem to have inexplicably lost ‘FatEQ’ as an audio plug-in option! Why?

I’ve used this endlessly in previous projects, so updating these to FCPX11 will mean I’m going to have to re-EQ anything I’ve used it on. I see there’s a new VintageEQ thrown in, but was it really necessary to lose FatEQ?

I normally try and update older libraries as long as there’s no issues, but this will be a real pain for me now, so will have to hang on to a previous copy of FCPX (for as long as it runs on future hardware) just to open pre-11 projects. Really annoying.
