Use the Bezier mask tool found in the Pan/Crop function.
There is a garbage matte tutorial found on the VASST website as well.

AE has great particles, but to be clear; it’s NOTHING like Apple’s Motion. Motion is the sole reason I carry a dual boot MBP. Motion is organic, if that’s possible for a software app. AE is very deliberate and is not a part of the creative process (although it is significantly better in CS4.
Particle Illusion is another app for particles, BTW.

It could be the crash corrupted a file.
Reload the project, don’t let it search for that one missing file. Then replace the missing file in the Project Media with a good/new version.

March 18, 2009 at 8:47 pm in reply to: memory limit to Sony pro titler?

Reduce the amount of video acceleration. That likely will fix the problem. The titler does indeed use memory, but having done a 6 hour timeline with nearly 700 PTT titles…I know it manages a lot of data pretty well.
uninstalling/reinstalling is rarely a necessary thing, and causes a lot of unnecessary headaches, IMO.

Which version of Vegas? This is a known issue in 7b/c and 8.0a

    HD200 here, no problems.
    What specifically are you experiencing?

  • If it’s over exposed (it likely is), you can duplicate the track, use a mask to define the areas that are overexposed (or not), use a gradient mask combined with levels to reduce the over exposure, and use opacity to blend the two together. A slight bit of gaussian might help with it as well.
We cover this sort of thing in the VASST Color Correction DVD with Glenn Chan, FWIW.

    Anti virus running?
    USB drive running?
Outlook or other process running in the background?
    Display drivers?
Might try reducing display acceleration too.
Also, try using Windows Classic vs Microsoft sound drivers in your Audio prefs.

  • Matt,
Why are you not using the MainConcept encoder? 2-pass with Deblocking filter? As indicated elsewhere, this is a better option than using the Sony encoder.
