I am used to using Premiere, and I’m trying out Vegas now, but am having problems.

All I want to do is a simple crop to cut out a corner of the video. Other programs call this a garbage matte. For the life of me, though, I can’t find this in Vegas! I’m having trouble getting around the Event Pan/Crop tool – it keeps the aspect ratio, moves the camera relative to the video, etc.

Sorry for this clearly newbie question, but I just can’t seem to find the answer.

Use the Bezier mask tool found in the Pan/Crop function.
There is a garbage matte tutorial found on the VASST website as well.

The mask feature that Doug talked about is only available the Pro version. In the movie maker version, you’ll need to manipulate the clip using cookie-cutter under filter/effect menu (sorry I don’t have the software up so I don’t know the exact location for the filter).

    Hello

Can I jump in here? I do have the pro version and I just want to add a simple black matte at bottom of video. Do I have to get into the keyframing for this?

Somehow I figured out how to use the Bezier mask. I was able to connect the keyframes together.

This is not easy coming from the Macrosystem environment.
