There is a tutorial for exactly this on the VASST site.
Make a second copy of the event.
Apply a Bezier mask on the top layer set to pass only the singer.
Put the levels tool on the lower layer. Notice the changes as you adjust the levels tool.
You’ll prolly need to feather the bezier mask, so make it smaller than you intitially will feel it needs to be.Douglas Spotted Eagle

We capture HDSDI from Vegas sourced from XDCAM and EX both. It’s more and more rare for capture these days, mostly monitoring. Even then…we’re a closed house, so SDI is no longer the “big deal” for us that it was. I’m more interested in seeing HDMI ingest/output working.

Import is as simple as importing any other video format. Just drop er’ on the timeline.

Can you create a new bus, send the voice to the new bus, and then clear it from the previous bus assignment?

You “lose” the keys, or they just aren’t accurate?
One small trick if you need multiple destinations from the same timeline, is to create a high-grade master such as an XDCAM master. Then you’re sourcing from an assembly.Douglas Spotted Eagle

I suspect you’ll find the same problem with the Handbrake export. If you want to send me a small chunk, I’ll put it into Handbrake…
AVCHD Lite is a serious PITA, some of the sports folks are using it on the little cams too, and it’s problematic for Premiere, Ulead Movie too.Douglas Spotted Eagle

Be sure you’re using the DV print to tape device and not the HDV print to tape too. They’re different.
Additionally, make sure you’ve got the deck set to receive in DV, not AUTO mode. It’ll throw Vegas.

Once FCP screws up the file, it’s a bear to get anything to read it.
Two options;
A-convert the files to ProRes and install the ProRes codec on your Windows machine.
B-Convert the files to .mxf format, you’ll need the free Sony plug for FCP from https://www.sony.com/xdcam
And then you’ll be stylin.
